Namma Metro to get final clearances soon

In what may turn out to be a crucial development for finally getting the Namma Metro chugging.

Bangalore: In what may turn out to be a crucial development for finally getting the Namma Metro chugging from Peenya to Malleswaram, the BMRCL is soon expecting a team from the Research Design and Standards Organization for giving the final clearances.

Recently, the BMRCL Managing Director Pradeep Singh Kharola stated that BMRCL was in talks with RDSO in Lucknow for conducting trials and the oscillation trials are likely to begin soon.

Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, BMRCL chief spokesperson Ravi Prakash said,"We have sent in the files to the RDSO and are now awaiting their reply. We are expecting a reply soon and after that we will forward their report to the Commissioner of Railway safety."

The opening of the 9.9-km Peenya to Sampige Road stretch of Namma Metro i being looked at with great expectations as the stretch will benefit at least over a lakh commuters. BMRCL had first announced that the streach will be opened up by November, even Chief Minister had made a statement on this.

In August, the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (BMRCL) had submitted a report on the Schedule of Dimension (SOD),following which the RDSO had raised 'raised a few objections' and instead has asked the BMRCL to furnish details on the 'track alignment.'

The Schedule of dimension will mainly comprise of — the height of walkway from the rail level (minimum and maximum) and the exemption from provision of check rails in the Peenya depot. Again in October, after getting BMRCL's reply RDSO had sought more 'explanations.'

In the meantime, the officials at RDSO have informed that they are still awaiting the final replies.
