Delhi HC restrains cable operators from illegally showing Dhoom 3 on a plea by YRF.

New Delhi: The Delhi High Court on Monday restrained cable operators from illegally 'communicating or distributing' the movie 'Dhoom 3', starring Aamir Khan and Abhishek Bachchan, on a plea by its producer Yash Raj Films (YRF).

Justice M L Mehta also asked various internet service providers, including Bharti Airtel, Reliance, MTNL and others to block those sites which illegally show the movie within 48 hours of receiving a written complaint as well as location or url (web address) of the site from the production house.

The high court's decision will apply against all those cable operators and internet service providers which are not named in the petition, advocate Anuj Kapur, who filed the plea on behalf of YRF, said.

YRF has in its plea sought injunction against illegal copying, distribution, communication of the movie either by cable operators or by others through the medium of internet service providers (ISPs).

Apart from restraining the cable operators from illegally showing the movie, they also sought directions to ISPs to remove access to websites, which may illegally host the film, within 48 hours of receiving a written complaint from the production house as per a Madras High Court order.

The counsel for ISPs assured the court that they would abide by the Madras High Court order.
