RMK students develop photovoltaic refrigerator

RMK Engineering students invents cost-effective 'Photovoltaic driven refrigerator cum Warmer'.
Chennai: The innovation and entrepreneurship development centre (IEDC) of RMK Engineering college has come up with a new and cost-effective proto type “Photovoltaic driven refrigerator cum Warmer”.
This prototype has been developed by final EEE students Surith Nivas M, Sai Prasad S and Ram Kumar P.H. as part of IEDC student project sponsored by national science & technology entrepreneurship development board (NSTDEB), government of India.
At a time when there is a push for replacing refrigerant gases, this may be a breakthrough. It operates on the photovoltaic driven thermoelectric refrigerant, which uses non conventional source in electrons.
It eliminates the use of the conventional fluids as refrigerants thereby eradicating any possible ozone depletion. The device is robust and environment friendly, targets usage in military, industrial, corporate and domestic.
