Lucky actress Vedhika narrowly escaped serious injury while shooting on the outskirts of Kochi for the the Malayalam film 'Sringaravelan'.
The video of the incident is currently trending on the social networks. The actor, who has also worked in Telugu films, said, “This is my debut Malayalam film. For a scene, they were supposed to throw me in a water tank and I was supposed to struggle in the water. But the cameraman told me that once I jumped into the water, I should just stand up instead of struggling. So I jumped in and then, I stood up. But the concrete wall just collapsed. I was in shock and didn’t know what to do,” says Vedhika. An assistant from the unit immediately helped her out. “I got to know that the concrete walls were built just two days ago.”
Vedhika is lucky because the entire tank was precariously placed on the edge of a building’s roof.
“I am still in shock. The man who helped me, injured his leg,” she adds.
She also points out that if she had been struggling in the water as had been earlier planned and not just stood up, she could have been severely hurt. “Then I wouldn’t have been able to see those walls collapsing. I escaped as I just stood in the centre.”
The actress, however, did not make a fuss about the incident. “I just wanted to continue with the shoot. Also it happened to be the last day of the shoot,” she says, adding that she will make sure from next time that there are adequate safety measures.
