Table No. 21 will be the first release of Bollywood next year. And its leading lady Tena Desae is taking it cool. “I am more excited than nervous. When the script is so challenging and thrilling, I have nothing to worry about,” says the model-turned-actor, who was in the city with her co-star Rajeev Khandelwal and director Aditya Datt.
The thriller, shot entirely in Fiji, is now part of her cherished memories. “I love adventure and so does Rajeev. We were shooting a scene where we had to act as if we are entering a jet. Our director said the body doubles would take the scene forward from there. But we tricked the pilot into getting us on board and were inside it for five minutes. It was awesome fun!” recounts the adventure-sports enthusiast, who has done bungee jumping, snorkelling, paragliding, scuba-diving, she has done it all.
For now, she is concentrating being on terra firma. “I have just learnt driving. My passions keep changing every month. Until November, I loved cooking, reading and watching movies,” says Tena, who played the love interest of Dev Patel in the Hollywood film ‘The Exotic Marigold Hotel’ and counts it to be “the best experience” of her life”.
But Table No. 21 was unnerving. “I was freaking scared of the kissing scene. But my director handled it very sensibly. I was so embarrassed to know that I continued kissing even after the shot was over. I did not hear the ‘cut’!,” says the actress who plays the role of Sia Agasthi, who gets trapped in a game along with her hubby, in the film.
So, what are the films one can expect to see her in? “I don’t talk about assignments that are in the pipeline. It has to be a meaty role, of course.” As for plans down south she says, “No. I don’t understand Telugu and other languages. I struggle with my Hindi, too!”
