Thiruvananthapuram: With onset of the Christmas and New Year season, the excise department has opened special control rooms in all the districts and intensified its vigil against smuggling of spurious liquor and spirit.
The police also stepped up vigil against unauthorised retail sale of Indian-Made Foreign Liquor, which is rampant these days. As part of the special drive, excise officials are directed to initiate swift actions on tip-offs regarding any spirit or illicit liquor smuggling. Special units have been kept ready in all districts. The drive will continue till January 7, said joint excise commissioner R.K. Sreekumar.
