Ongole: The supporters of united Andhra Pradesh will observe December 9 as Vidroha Dinam (betrayal day), protesting against moves to grant statehood to Telangana.
The Samaikya Andhra Rashtra Vidyarthi Joint Action Committee (Sarvjac) meeting here on Thursday decided to intensify protests opposing state bifurcation proposal.
Sarvjac state co-convener, R. Jagadish and other leaders demanded a fresh statement from Union government revoking statehood proposal to Telangana. “Samaikya Andhra supporters will conduct protest rallies and meetings on December 9 observing it as Vidroha Dinam. United Andhra supporters in large numbers will join Samaikya Andhra rededication meeting on December 10 at Sri Venkateswara University,” they said.
They said that they would meet district MLAs and MLCs and ask them to take the issue of sanctioning government university in Prakasam district to notice of government and threatened to launch protests in front of their houses.
