Visakhapatnam, Nov. 6: The state will have 111 haemodialysis in important cities under the Arogyasri second phase. The project will be implemented on the PPP model on the basis of build, operate, own and transfer with the participation of government hospitals, said Arogyasri minister Mr P. Satyanarayana.

Addressing a press conference here on Friday, the minister said that haemodialysis was a life saving procedure, and needed to be given to patients suffering from chronic kidney disease. The existing infrastructure for this procedure was found to be inadequate both in private and government hospitals.

“Under these conditions, state government has decided to install 111 machines in select government hospitals under the Rajiv Arogyasri scheme with the revolving fund generated by deducting 20 per cent of the earnings of the hospitals,” he said.

Apart from government hospitals, the director of medical education, APHMHIDC and Arogyasri Health Care Trust representing the government would be partners in the project and the company manufacturing and providing comprehensive services would be the private partner, he added.

The APHMHIDC has identified B-Braun and Company as the agency to implement the scheme by following open bidding.

He said that the public partner (government hospital) wou-ld provide space, water, ele-ctricity, services of nephrologists and other supportive services under the scheme.

The private partner would install the HD machines, RO plants and services of duty doctors, technicians, nursing staff and attendant amenities. The scheme comes into effect from October 29, the minister added.

On Friday, the facilities were launched at King George Hospital, Visakhapatnam and Osmania General Hospital and Gandhi Hospital at Hyderabad.

Gandhi Hospital will have 18 units, Osmania General Hospital 15, 10 each in King George Hospital, GG Hospital Vijayawada, GG Hospital Guntur, Nims, Hyderabad, Svims Tirupati, GG Hospital Kurnool and six each in MGM Hospital Warangal, GG Hospital Kakinada and SVRR Government Hospital, Tirupati.
