London, Nov. 14: Is your child sleeping till late on weekends? Don't worry, it may help him stay slim, says a new study.
According to researchers at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, lying-in bed till late helps school going children catch up on the sleep they miss out during a busy week and also it helps regulate their calorie intake by reducing snacking during waking hours.
After observing diet, lifestyle, weight and sleeping routines of over 5,000 school children, aged between five and 15 years, the researchers found that those who catch up on their sleep on off days -- at weekends and on holidays -- managed to stay slim, while others were more likely to have expanded waistline, The Telegraph reported.
"Overweight and obese children tend to wake up earlier and had shorter sleep durations throughout weekdays, weekends and holidays than their normal-weight peers," the researchers said in a report published in the journal Paediatrics.
They suggested that sleeping longer on weekends and holidays could lower the risk of being overweight.

i think that it's good for the kids to have or maybe get some more sleep for their health would improve and they would focus more in class or any place. I also think they should have another day during the weekend so they could have a lot more time to have fun. I say the kids need one more day off not just because we need it too. lol :P I think that they need just one more day for sleep, that's all.
