Millions worldwide could be affected as early as March 8 if America's Federal Bureau of Investigation go ahead with plans to switch off servers that were put in place to beat malware, RT has reported.
The report claims the FBI replaced affected servers - hit by a malicious computer script called the DNSChanger Trojan - with their own and now plan to turn off the replacement servers.
RT also claims the FBI arrested six men in connection with the creation of the virus.
The temporary shutdown, during which the surrogate servers will be moved, is set to affect 'half of all Fortune 500 companies and more than two dozen major government entities in the US', RT quoted Security company IID (Internet Identity) as saying.
