Shopping for sheep and goats this Bakrid has gone online with a few enterprising businessmen opening Web portals to market the sacrificial animals at relatively cheaper prices.

There is also a facility for online sacrifices where a person intending to offer an animal for sacrifice only has to pay the money while the animal is sacrificed and meat distributed to the poor by those running the portal, on his behalf.

With some portals offer sacrificial animal in any part of the world, others have only door delivery system only in Hyderabad. Two brothers from Humayunnagar, Syed Siddique Ahmed and Syed Mustafa Ahmed started a web portal called www.simplequrbani.com.

Siddique is a third year computer science student in Deccan College of Engineering and Mustafa has just completed MBA. The brothers started the portal one month prior to Bakrid and they managed to complete their target transaction for now and stopped the bookings.

“It was the idea of my brother Mustafa but both of sat together and conceptualised it. It was a quite a positive response from the people especially from NRIs. We had targeted for some 250 transactions as it was our first venture. We have successfully managed to complete it,” said Syed Siddique.

The portal also provides literature on religious significance of sacrifice and Bakrid.
